I have found that the use of flash freezing with ice cube trays has been a time and life saver. The trays I use, when filled near the brim, hold 1 fluid ounce.
It is important to either cover your ice cube tray shortly after freezing or placing the newly frozen food cubes into freezer bags to help maintain freshness. No one wants to eat freezer flavored foods, especially not baby.
I suggest pulling out the cubes you think you will need for the day and keep them in the refrigerator the night before. Use them within 24 hours to maintain freshness and tastiness.
If you need to do a quick defrost, try one of the two options below:
1) Put cube(s) into a baggy and place in hot water bath.
2) If you do not already own some, invest in some pyrex custard cups. Place hot water half way up in one cup, and nest the second cup inside the first. Place the cube of food in the top cup. This will help thaw the food. It also works as a convenient food warmer.
