Hello, all,
Looking for some new ideas. My little one has his favorites, but we need to throw some variety in there or he'll wind up as picky as his preteen sister.
So far we've done purees of: apple-pear-blueberry, banana-strawberry, banana-justabouteverything, sweetpotato-apple, yam-apple, sweetpotato-cream cheese, carrot... and in the beginning, peas, green beans, peaches, pears, and anything else Gerber made that I felt like duplicating at home.
My son is nearly 14 mo now and, since I have no local friends, no sounding boards, I'd like to know what you feed/fed your kids at that age. I try to make his purees very chunky at this point (total of eight teeth so far). Every now and then I sneak a well-boiled egg into his pureed oatmeal or rice, but I don't think he's getting enough protein. He doesn't always go for pureed mom-and-dad food (i.e. pot roast works okay, bulgogi does not), and small chicken pieces is hit-or-miss depending on the tides, alignment of the planets, etc.

Would love some feedback.

(Now I'm all hungry!)

Thank you- I hadn't even thought to try zucchini or eggplant.
Onion porridge? 0.o Onions make me very gassy, which is probably why my son hasn't had them yet (he had fierce colic until he was about 3mo old; I'm probably just paranoid). I'll have to try out onions on him.
Hummus-- haven't had that *ever*, either. Will have to try that as well.

Thank you for all your wonderful ideas! Your son's birthday must be close to my son-- 13 March. :)

Mine was born on the 18th! He also had colic- I was eating too much dairy. Isn't it so lovely we're finally past that part? I love toddlerhood. Even if my house is now perma-sticky and he drew on my sheets with a ballpoint pen today. Anything is better than colic!

The onions can be fatal- I boil them and then cook them again but sometimes he's still farty. I've also cut up dates and raisins in there- he loves the taste but they um...come straight through.

The grater is the Amazing Tool in our house. I'm on a mission to grate everything because it means he can eat it and I am sick of having little tiny cuts on my fingers and cleaning out the blender. :)

Hummus is yummy stuff. You can add different things to it too. Let me know if you ever want a recipe for it.
